Trigram Robot SUMO is conducted in a team format, with each team consisting of 2 participating students and 1-2 coaching teachers.

There are two categories: primary school and secondary school.

Participating students must be currently enrolled in primary or secondary school on the day of the competition.

The competition arena is a circular platform with a diameter of 2.8 meters. The platform is approximately 35 centimeters above the ground, and the robot starting area is a trapezoid shape located 50 centimeters away from the edge. The area inside the preparation line to the edge of the platform is the starting area for the robots, with each team's robots placed opposite to each other in this area.
